Signed up for SBC global (now AT&T), was told it would start on last friday, then they changed it to Monday. Now I am being told it will be next week...No one has ever called me to even tell me it changed. I am just thinking maybe I should stop this and go to cable....It just seems so customer unfriendly...any one else had problems??

I have SBC for over 2-years now and never had a problem.
This does sound like something I would keep track of, and if they pull one more delay I would threaten to go to cable unless they give you a FREE Month or 2, or a discount in price, or FREE Modem!
If they honestly can't get you service for a few weeks they should say so, and NOT be delaying you all the time without some kind of monetary apology like one of the above mentioned freebies. Sometimes unexpected problems come up, but there not your fault so the company needs to be responsive and compensate you in some way.

No problems with SBCGlobal DSL service. It is very rarely down, and speed is always consistent. If I remember correctly, the installation (not at my house, but at the other end) was not done on the original date.

I think you should consider this. DSL installation will be as customer-friendly as telephone installation. Cable Internet will be as customer-friendly as cable installation. DSL service will be consistent as phone service. Cable service will be as consistent as tv cable. If your TV and/or phone go out in bad weather . . . ?

NOTE: If there is a problem with the phone line coming to your house, they will fix that before your DSL is installed.
