As far as I know it is totally empirical and is not backed by Modern Science as we know it. Let me hasten to add there are many oriental subjects which have not been touched by Modern Science.There has not been any significant scientific research in this area or papers published. However certain predictions in Palmistry have come true in a remarkable way. May be as the time passes we will know more!

Absolutely, my good man - no doubt about it. Sit down and let me elucidate for you. Just relax and consider.
With our meager brains there is much we do not understand and it should be at least submitted for consideration that the patterns in your hands are influenced by, perhaps not the events of the external world, but at least by your own internal nature. Surely you can envision this - or at least the idea that the science involved is the psychology of suggestion and guillibilty (fraud). :o

The science goes as far as explaining why you get creases in the skin on your palms when you open and close your hand.

It also explains why heavy callouses would tell the Palm reader that you do manual labor.

That's pretty much it.

It's referred to as a pseudo science(fake science). It uses some of the vernacular(language) of science but it is not grounded in any truth.

No. It was developed by noting similar characteristics in people with similar lines on their hands but if you happen to match its pure coincidence.
