I'm writing a children's story using this theme. I was curious what a number of people might think.

sounds like the beginning of a scary children's story. Sure, it's fun to do that type of thing at first. but eventually you should settle down around the fire(that will heat your house for you-and lighting) and reminisce about the pioneer era, when this is what they had to deal with everyday/night. Then locate some flashlights, and maybe start wondering about your fridge and freezer if the power is off for a long time.

stay calm cause screaming & shouting is not going to help the situation any better. lol. being a person who loves storms I would either be sitting at a window w/ a candle or flashlight & watching it or I would just go to sleep. i loooove storms when i'm sleeping & thunder is oddly one of my favorite sounds.

another thing to pass the time is to watch a movie on a laptop if you have one. i do & that's what my sisters & I did one time when our power went out for a couple hours. Since my laptop has a 3 hour battery life when it's not plugged in we just set it on the coffee table & sat on the couch & watched away. lol!

We all like to play a game called "Spooky Dark." It's like hide and seek but it is in pitch black darkness. I started it years ago when the kids were really little being that we have frequent power outages here do to the frequency of lightning, storms and hurricanes. They kids absolutely love it and now when the ower goes out, instead of crying in a corner running and tripping over themselves to get to me, they just grab a flashlight and the game is ON!

Were are not normal though. We are kind of Adams family-ish.

Get a flashlight, light a candle, and look outside to enjoy the wonder of nature. I don't get the screaming and shouting (unless you are startled).

I hate when that happens - I need all of my technology. It's difficult to read by flashlight and I'm a night owl, so it gets to be a long night.
