I have 9 days left to go until my due date, and I would like some input on weight loss. I have gained 45 pounds. I started out at about 145. I plan on breastfeeding since that is the best food for a baby and the best way to help shed pregnancy weight. My goal weight after the baby is about 120 lbs (My weight about 3 years ago.). I want to know how other women dealt with post-pregnancy weight. These are my questions:

How much weight did you lose the first 6 weeks after delivery?
Did you breastfeed your child/ren?
How much weight did you lose overall, and how long did you breastfeed (if you even did)?

Thanks, in advance, for all your answers!

With my most recent child (born Sept. 2005) I gained 19 lbs and when I went on my 6th week check-up I had lost 26 lbs. I breastfed until she was 7 months old when I became pregnant again (yes, it was planned) and my milk dried up.

The rule of thumb for losing the weight -- it took 9 months to gain the weight give yourself 9 months to get back in shape. Gradual is best so that you will keep the weight off. Plus, you have a wonderful baby to take care of and that should take precedence.

I usually lose 10 pounds in a month I go to the gym 5 times a day and sometimes in the morning i know that might sound a little too much but thats just how I like to work out and for breakfast I eat egg whites with spinach or sometimes I'll eat some oatmeal then for lunch I don't really get that hungry so I'll eat a 80 cal Greek yogurt with a granola bar and a string cheese for dinner I'll eat salad but instead of using ranch dressing or Italian dressing I use avocado with some chicken breast , corn , cucumbers and carrots. Or sometimes I'll eat steam vegetables you can also eat some chicken breast for dinner it has a lot of protein and is very good for you. Also drink water and eat fruits everyday . Stay away from soda and sugary drinks !! Hopefully this helps and I think you'll be fine good luck !

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

Well, with my last baby I turned into a whale and gained 65 lbs. The good news is that 45 of it came off within 3 months and the rest within another year. So, when my baby was 1 year 3 months I was back to pre preg weight. Part of the problem was extreme swelling, 15 lbs was all water that came off with medication in 24 hrs.
I did breastfeed, but only for 6 months. With my other babies I breastfed for a little over a year and the weight came off faster, but this was #3 and I was having unusual problems with breastfeeding that the Dr couldn't help and made me have to stop early--I don't want to get into it all here.

I lost all but about 5 lbs of my pregnancy weight by my 6 weeks checkup with all three babies. I only gained about 27 lbs each time. I breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months and then continued breastfeeding with the addition of solids. All babies were nursed well beyond the first year. (#1 weaned at 3.5 years, #2 weaned at 22 mos and #3 is still nursing at 3.5 years.)

I breastfeed the first month but then switch over to formula. I wish I would have stood with it longer. But during time, your baby will sleeping most of the day and night and no matter how cute your baby is (they all are =) if you very want to lose the weight exercise now as much as possible while their a sleep and everyone still wants to hold them and watch them for you. As they get older it's gets harder finding someone willing to watch them even the best kid. Hope that helped.

I had lost 15 pounds at my check up. I only gained 25 during the pregnancy, however, I gained another 30 pounds after my check up. On the plus side that has been almost 4 years ago and I have now lost close to 75 pounds.

Good luck to you.
