I took a portable CD player and the CD Songs to make you Smile (compilation) which I haven't seen since so I must have left it in the delivery room and Keane's Hopes and Fears(how apt). Needless to say that listening to music was the last thing on my mind and I didn't get round to it. I was hard trying to fit the neck of the gas and air pipe round the dangling earphones!

Any music that you know helps you to relax.
In terms of how to choose music for the delivery room, it's a very personal thing, but I hope I can help you make your own decisions.
Have you attended any antenatal classes?
If so you would have received lots of advice regarding mobilisation during labour.
Perhaps for this stage you could choose something that would make you want to stand up and move about.
There may be times during your labour that you feel you want to be on the bed, or relaxing between contractions in a chair or on a birthing ball. Also, if you opt for an epidural you may well be 'stuck' to the bed for some time.
For this, maybe you could choose some of your favourite pieces of music to help you wind down and relax.
Aswell as this, it might be nice to have some music that you and partner remember as special to one another. Childbirth is a great time for you to feel close in your relationship and proud of YOUR new baby. What an achievement!
These days, many couples make their own compilation tape or cd for the delivery as this is their own personal favourites.
After the delivery you can play the cd too and remember how happy you were to see your new baby, and maybe keep it in your 'baby box' as a memento.
I hope this helps. Best wishes and good luck.
