It's a tough one this (especially for a Liverpool fan!!). I'm only going to talk about Gooners I've seen play in the flesh so, while I won't knock the efforts of the legendry Cliff Bastion (F**k Charlie George though for Wembley 1971!!), I'll stick to players I remember.

I've seen some great players put on the Arsenal shirt against the boys...Ian Wright was amazing - one of the best goal scorers there ever was. Patrick Viera was awesome - Petit got found out once he left Arsenal and didn't have Paddy V protecting him. Dennis Bergkamp was unbelievable - hatrick against Leicester or goal at St. James park when swivled past his marker anyone? Pure class. Marc Overmars was a soccer genius. Nic Anelka could have become the greatest Arsenal player if he'd stay instead of warming the Real Madrid bench (like the mercenary Michael Owen). Paul Merson in the early 1990's was just a joy to watch - great runs, great goals, shame about the gambling and drugs. Robert Pirez was just brilliant to watch. He scored a great goal at Anfield one time that had everyone applauding. Tony Adams was possibly the best English centre half this country has seen since the late great Bobby Moore - what a leader and defender he was.

Boringly though, I'd have to pick the man who still makes me smile when i see him. For me, the best centre forward in the world and the man who can (seemingly) do anything: Tierry Henry. What a player and what a rant about the ref after the European Cup Final this year. The man is pure class.

I think it has to be Thierry Henry.

Arsenal have had many great players in the past and I use the word great in the proper context not the way it is bandied about at every five minute wonder that scores a goal in the English Premier League. The memories flood back of the great Charlie George goal in the FA Cup Final of '71, the fantastic strikes and smiles and antics(still) of Ian Wright, the "Dutch Master" or
"non flying dutchman" Dennis Bergkamp, the midfield maestro, Patrick Vieira........the names and games just keep coming.
But who else would you want to close the Soccer Palace that was built by all these great players than the best of them all and with a hat-trick no less.........Thierry Henry!

Ian Wright is the greatest. Not only was he the greatest footballing brain ever to grace the premiership he was an amazing showman with his heart in the crowd. He and Henry together now would be the most unstoppable strike partnership of all time. Them standing together up front at Dennis's testimonial made me shiver!
IAN WRIGHT! WRIGHT! WRIGHT!

I'm a Man Utd fan and would have loved to have had Tony Adams or Bergkamp, i cant bring myself to like Henry because of his arrogance although he is a class player.

1st - Thierry Henry - No reason needed

2nd - Dennis Bergkamp - excellent football brain and the talent to go with it.

I've only seen gooners from Liam Brady's era onwards.

Are u crazy? It has got to be Henry.
Why! b'coz his touches are FANTASTIC.His footwork is AMAZIN. Many players revolve around him. He is an INSPIRATIONAL captain.
Taking out Henry from the present Arsenal squad is like removing the soul out of Arsenal.
Need any MORE reasons?????????
