You are right.
You can have an abortion by taking pills. This is called a medical termination. You need to be 9 weeks pregnant or less to opt for this sort of treatment.
Before the termination you will have another pregnancy test, and be scanned to check the gestation (length) of the pregnancy and to make sure it is not ectopic (in a fallopian tube instead of the uterus).
The treament consists of two forms of medication.
First of all Mifepristone. This blocks the action of progesterone, causing the uterine lining to thin and detach.
Then Misoprostol. This causes uterine contractions that expel the embryo and placental tissue from the womb.
Both medications are available as oral tablets, but some clinics give the second medication a vaginal treatment.
These treatments are at least as safe as surgical termination but are only available from specialist clinics and hospitals.
It is about 97% effective and you will have to return to the clinic to check if the treatment was successful.
This sounds like a very stressful time for you.
Make the best decision for yourself, no-one else.
You are number 1 in this equation.
Try not to get upset over judgmental, unhelpful, idiotic advice and scaremongering about this type of treatment
I know this might be the last thing you want to do, but try and find someone to confide in and talk this through with. Someone you can trust 100%.
Make an appointment to see your GP or visit your local family planning clinic straight away.
Best wishes and take care.

If you mean the pill that an abortion clinic would give you, i think its upto about 8 or 9 weeks into the pregnancy-1st u have to be referred by 2 seperate doctors that both feel u are 100% sure that u have made the right choice for you and for the right reason. then u have make an appointment to go to the nearest place that deals with abortion in your area, its sometimes your local hospital, then u have 2 seperate pills the 2nd one a few days after the 1st pill, if u miss the time limit for the pill form then u have to be booked in and put to sleep while its done thru suction.
If your in the uk, try http://www.bpas.org
Hope this is of some help to you.
Good luck, xx

Firstly ignore the pro lifers they are all nice till you have a kid then spit in your face calling you a stlut and a whore and call your kid a bastard.
you seen how the relgious lot treat single mums saying you only got pregnant for a free house and are a dole scronger etc...
Aint worth it and many adopted kids experience a life of a buse and neglect and end up on the streets shooting up smack to take away the pain of surviviing a s a begging street hooker...
And the most abuse occures in pro life relgious kids homes...
It also tears you up adoting after born and if you have the kid you are unlikly to cope,
***************
That said, morning after pills are 48 hours or so and the quicker the better ... After that this abortion pill you are refering to see a doctor or get medical advice from PROFESSIONALS at family planning, planned pregnancy clinics or even a pharmacy...
Not us lot as that sounds like a very serious drug...

I had an abortion through the family planning clinic I was put to sleep, you wake up and still know you have made the right decision. I don't regret it as i feel i could not cope with a baby at that point in my life and i know i would not be able to give birth and then give the baby away. Do what you feel is right for you.
good luck x x

You should really call a doctor immediately to ask about your options. I can think of two: the morning after pill and the "abortion pill"
The morning after pill should be taken within 72 hours after intercourse. It's supposed to prevent conception from occuring since it's a very high dosage birth control pill. http://www.morningafterpill.org/
The abortion pill is called RU-486 (Mifeprex). You can only use it if you are less than 63 days pregnant. The earlier, the better. Please use this link to read more about it: http://www.abortionclinic.org/topics/articles/article_73.asp
Please call a local health center to inquire about your options.

If its just that you had recent unprotected sex (ie less than 72 hours ago) you can get the "Morning after Pill" from Dr, Family Planning or over the counter at chemists.
If you know you definately conceived you can use the abortion pill (RU486) if you're under 8 weeks pregnant

You can take the morning after pill up to 48 hours after I believe. If you go to Planned Parenthood for an early abortion they will give you a pill to insert in your vagina up thru like 25 weeks I believe, so unless you have problems, you wont need surgery.

I think you mean where you take a pill and actually give birth to your dead foetus?? not very clued up on this but I think it's 3-4 months. Should be illegal though in my eyes. Look on the net.
God... I'm horrified reading some of these answers, you can just buy a compound to have an abortion? Not in the U.K surely??

Whatever you do, you must do it under doctor supervision. Even ifthe abortion is provoked by a pill, a procedure by a doctor is necessary afterwards. This is different than the morning after pill, which is urgent contraception(used the morning after), it is not used to abort a conceived phytus.
