Highly educated women would presumably be smart enough to make that decision for themselves. I chose to stay home with my sons until the younger one started nursery school, and then I worked only part-time pretty much until they went away to college. At the time I had a Bachelor's degree and was a member of Mensa, the high IQ society. Why should children only be raised by stupid people? You don't think raising children well "makes a difference?"

My wife and mom are educated and they stay at home. I work part-time and learn math better by being out of the classroom . My job is ideal for a woman who does not wish to spend too much time outside the home. I can do math at a higher level than many of the people that do work out of the home. In today s world highly educated woman can become even more highly educated by not spending too much time outside the home.

I think it's ok for her to stay at home or work. I just got my bachelor's degree and plan on getting my masters in criminal justice. However, I'm going to get married and we want to have kids within the next 2 years...so during that time, I don't plan on working. I also plan on staying home for a few years after we have kids. I think it will be a rewarding experience. However, my fiance does make enough to support us and a family, so that is the only reason I'm taking that option. I would most definitely work if it were needed!

I did go get my degree for more than just to stay at home though. I want to use my skills to do what I can in the world...and I want to save animals! I want to work with the ASPCA and hunt down all the animal abusers and people who fight pits!

I just can't live off of an allowance by my husband...it just isn't right. It would feel too weird and I think it would give men too much power if they all ran the show...without us there to help them out! :)

They should. But not to be idle!! There are a few very good home businesses out there two of which are www.aloedistridutor.com and www.fuelxfrank.myffi.biz I will not insult your intelligence by telling you what they are all about, let it suffice to say they are fantastic!! In the Aloe one, I have set people up in this one mostly all over Ireland, although I have helped three families in USA. I also help a couple in Russia to get it off the ground. The other one, fuelxfrank, I have set people up in over 30 countries around the world. These are all people who prefer to stay at home to work, and to be there own boss. So best of Irish Luck to you. If there is any way I can help you further my email is frankwoodsflp@eircom.net Cheers! Frank.

If a woman has a high education, she should be out there doing something with it and making a difference. I mean, if she wants to stay home and sit around, that's her decision. But education is something that should never be wasted and Lord knows the general populace needs all the help it can get.

If she wants to in order to raise her children -- are highly educated people too good to be family oriented? Are we implying that "low educated" people good for nothing but poping out babies and drinking beer?

What is wrong with family? A job is just a way of earning a living -- never mistake a career for a life.

Even though I just turned 27 I grew up in old school era. I was taught that a woman should get a degree of what ever either it be an AS. BA, MA, or PHD. But at the same time if you going to have kids you should say home to take care of them. If any thing were to happen to your bf or husband then you have a degree to fall back on. Raising kinds is the most important job. If you have kids and are working your paying someone to raise and teach your kids their morals. To me That isn't worth working.

In my experience, education only helps you get a job, it doesn't mean you'll do that job well. If a highly educated woman wants to work then do it. If you can find some man to sponge off of so you don't have to work... more power to you. You can be the smartest woman wasting her life watching Oprah and the View.

Only if they want to. But highly educated women would be much better off applying their education. But if they'd rather stay home, then that's perfectly respectable.

That is a matter of choice not education thought there are some undeniable factors to consider.

Children who have a parent home from 0-13 are 200% less likely to drink, do drugs, or have sex during this age bracket (I realize its a big bracket).

Children who have a parent home from 13-18 are 80% more likely to have exceptional grades, have less pregnancys, and are 58% more likely to graduate high school.

Definately food for thought.
