Is it possible for people to befriend someone in whom they don't really trust? I mean trust is one of the key ingredients in successful friendships, isn't it? How come I sense distrust in someone I've been friends with for 5 months now? What do you think happened? Serious answers only, please. Thanks a lot for those who offer me your input.
p.s. I trust him, and he knows it.

It all adds up to whether you and your friend decide that you want to work on your relationship or if you want to discart it. I think often nowadays it seems easier to let people go when they do something that offends the other party. We are easily offended. Earlier, for instance, it could be alot of shame invilved in a divorce and people tried to live with and work out problems.

Being able to work out problems is important. If you are able and willing to do this to each other - cause both persons must want to - the relationship will deepen instead of being more and more shallow. So what is it you want? A deep relationship or a shallow relationship.

If you talk this over with your friend, trying to say what it is you observe and how you sence distrust - it should be possible to talk about it, saying you are willing and that you want your relationship to work because you enjoy being with that person and you think that person gives you something.

Good luck

Yeh, friendship depends on trust only, moreover every relation in this world needs the very first thing that is trust, if u don't believe me u wont answer my mails. So, definitely trust is must. One more thing, trust is not the thing u get in minutes, its always time tested, if u want to sense the trust between u, just wait and take some time having any decision.

Sounds like past problems. Keep at it, and gradually he will see that at least one person in his life is trustworthy. But be prepared for a few wobbles along the way. If he was hurt badly, it may take a while for him to relax.
