well I'm not a nurse, but i did have 3 kids. labor is painful, sorry I'm not going to lie to you, but it isn't really worth worrying about it is a different kind of pain, and goes away the second you give birth. No it does not hurt at all when they break your water..that is the easiest part, the only thing you might feel is a very gentle tug, and then water flowing out. as for pain in the next few weeks, pretty much the same you have been having braxton hicks and all, some of them can be quite painful...when labor begins, trust me you will know it...as for what you can do and can't do, well unless your doc. told you other wise, sex is still okay..flying on a plane may not be..and get some rest, your going to need it. also if you haven't already had your nesting faze you will feel a strong urge to get up and clean and prepare soon. the on set of labor isn't bad...if you get to the hospital early in, chances are you may not feel anything more than a few nasty contractions...i recommend the epidural....the pushing part does hurt, even with the epidural..there is pain and pressure in your entire bottom area...but like i said as soon as the baby's out the pain stops...no worries you will do great!

My water was broke with the first one. It's a quick sharp pain but nothing compared to contractions. Contraction pain is different for everyone. I was in labor 4 ever with both kids the first one I had an epidural that was awsome. I didn't feel a thing. Nothing no baby head, shoulders. It was great I said I would pop out 20 kids over pregnancy. Then with 2nd child had epidural early on in labor. It wore off about 2 hrs before I started pushing. So I felt everything this time. It hurt and was painful, but as soon as your little one comes out it's very rewarding. I would do it natural next time. If there is a next time (not sure yet) Not going to lie it will hurt for everyone but different levels of pain. You forget about it so fast it doesn't even matter it's going to hurt.

After having 4 kids I have to tell you that the pain of labor depends on a few different things, If you have an epideral labor doesn't really hurt, if you have something in your iv, it hurts but your so out of it you just don't care, if you have a natural birth it really hurts but the joy is so overwhelming that you tend to forget about that pain as soon as you have the baby. (with my last baby I used a midwife and had a natural birth, as soon as the baby was born he was placed on my stomach, I can not tell you how that felt, it was so awesome)
As for it hurting when they break your water, no it doesn't, they use a long needle type thing but you can't really feel it, it's just a little pinch and then a lot of water.

I have 2 children a boy 23 months old and a baby girl 5 months old. Both experiences were different, First one my water broke before I started feeling the contractions, by the time I got to the hospital I was dilated to 5 so i didn't wait long to get the epidural. Within 30 minutes I couldn't feel a thing the nurse had to tell me when to push and when to stop with my contractions. I had him within 91/2 hours Second I started have irregular contractions 5mins here 10mins next time. I called my doctor he told me to come in. Again I got the epidural( which is great by the way) and this time it wore off a little, I could feel my contractions which felt like lite cramping and this time the nurse broke my water. It doesn't hurt. 13 hours later I had a baby girl. Everyone says this but as soon as you see your baby for the first time it makes it all worth it and you can't wait to have another one. Good Luck and Congrats.

If you are prepared for labor, it won't be anything that you can't handle. Women have been doing this for centuries. If you are educated about labor, prepared with many different ways to cope and supported by your partner, your caregiver and the staff, you'll do great!
A couple of books you might want to look at:
The Birth Book by Dr. Sears
The Birth Partner by Simkin
Birthing From Within by England
Don't let them break your water without a good medical reason. Contractions are easier to handle while the bag of water is still intact. My bag stayed intact through around 16 hours of labor with my first! I finally consented to an AROM (artificial rupture of membranes) and 45 mins later I was pushing and 45 mins after that he was born. With my second, my MW ruptured my water while I was pushing. With my third, my water broke on it's own during pushing. Having a strong bag of waters and laboring with it intact can REALLY help make labor easier! Also, once your water breaks they'll put you "on the clock" to deliver, so the longer you can stay intact, the better!
If you aren't already, start doing pelvic rocking. It will help encourage baby into a good position and may help you with some of the aches and pains of pregnancy.
See a massage therapist. This will help you learn to relax for labor, make you feel better and balance your body so labor will be easier. I did it regularly through all three pregnancies and it's a real help!
The worst part of my first labor was crowning. Crowning is when the baby's head is stretching you to the fullest point. It kind of burns. I wasn't relaxing and going with it, but instead kind of writhing around fighting it. If I would have relaxed more it wouldn't have been so bad. The good thing is, crowning doesn't take long at all! And pushing feels GOOD because you are working with your body to get that baby out!
With my second, I could feel myself bruising as I tried to push her shoulders out. I had to change positions to hands and knees to get her out the rest of the way. Again, the hard part didn't last long. (Although the puking in labor was not fun!)
With my third, the hardest part was literally SECONDS during pushing. One big moan/roar from me and it was OVER. Waterbirth is AMAZING and the water helps SO much to relax you and take away pain!

just plan on the epidural, okay? they will break your water with a plastic hook, and it is uncomfertable. If you don't get an epidural, get ready for the most pain you could imagine(that's why they temporarily paralize you during labor, get it?) Get the epidural!!! If you do, you will be sleeping or watching tv until they tell you, "hey, you should push now" Yes, you will feel the baby coming out, but that isn't bad. That is a good pain, because you are getting the baby, and it is over really quick! You know how it feels to fit tight jeans over your hips? that is kindof the sensation you get when your baby is coming out, he will scoot and turn and make himself fit until he is out, then you will be fine! If you do not get the epidural, you will feel burning and ripping and stretching.

they have drugs and anesthesia that they can administer to your while you are in labor or before you go into full blown labor. The best thing I can tell you is to practice your lamaze methods and be prepared and who knows maybe your labor will not be all that bad. You have a family and support team behind you so you should not be worried about anything just focus on what's best for the baby.Good Luck!

i could tell that nurse that she has no corporation being everywhere close to you mutually as you're there and enable the different nurses which you will no longer have something to do together with her and don't decide for her seeing something approximately your being pregnant no charts, tests, no longer something. Oooh i've got been given so mad purely analyzing this(i'm in my first trimester(9w5d) and have been feeling very confrontational although) you do no longer ought to post together with her. people who are available in touch with you mutually as you're pregnant must be attempting to make each and every thing much less stressful surprisingly docs and nurses.
