I don't know if it was the cream, or if I was just lucky, but I used St. Ives Collagen and Elastin cream and I didn't get any stretch marks on my stomach, sides, or back (I did get some nasty ones on my breasts and butt, though). I read that stretch marks are actually little tears in the skin and that collagen and elastin are two elements that make up the elasticity in the skin, so it makes sense to replace what is being taken away by the stretching. I don't know. Like I said, I may just have been lucky.

Unfortunatly I don't believe a cream like that exists, if your mom or sisters got them than most likely you will too. I tried Palmers coco butter stretch mark cream and it didn't work I still got them. Honestly I don't care, and some of them are pretty big too, they're a badge of honor and I have two beutiful babies and a man that loves me, and agrees.

I don't think there is really a way to avoid them. I used coca butter, and any over the counter things for strech marks with my first pregnancy. Didn't work! Lets just say road maps all over. 2nd kid even worse because I got anemia my body would swell so bad in my legs that I have them now on my legs (down to my calfs, stomach and boobs) There is just no way to avoid them. It's the joys of having kids.

First, I start off with hydration. I drink plenty of water. And now, being pregnant with twins, I'm always drinking water! Water keeps your skin hydrated.
Next, when I shower, I use Softsoap shea butter body wash. Makes the skin smooth.
Immediately after I dry off, I apply lotion. Lotion is put on best at this time. I use Palmer's for stretch marks (purchased at Walgreens for under $5) - on my belly and breasts. On the rest of my body, I use any other lotions. Usually Jergens. Right now, I love Oil of Olay's new touch of sun - keeps my pregnancy glow very well!!

Some women say that coco butter worked for them...but not for me!! I used it every day at least 2x per day starting the day I found out I was pregnant...2 weeks pregnant...all the way until I delivered.
I have baby marks from my pelvic area almost up to my bust. They do not bother me or my husband one bit...they are part of pregnancy and I just don't let them bother me. They faded pretty fast and are flesh-tone not purple.
If you get them I hope you can embrace your baby marks as part of your beautiful experience...good luck!

its hereditary. the creams may make it a little less evident but they do fade with time. consider them badges of honor.
