I've seen a friend have his life dominated by them, but I play them occasionally with no addictive consequences. I think it depends upon how many interests a person has outside of their gaming.

The effects to our social life of online games are usually bad. For example my brother has left his studies just to play in there ( usually at night, and he sleeps at day). So he doesn't have a normal life, not because everybody are living at day and sleeping at night. But he's extracted from the people-world and he communicate by typing on the PC's keyboard and nothin' else. Although, the effects to our social life are depending on people's character and so in how well we're gonna use the Internet, the online gaming absorbs you in there without understanding it. So you must know and stop to the limits of life.
