Next time you go to the store with your dad, pick up some sanitary pads and just put them in the cart. Trust me, he won't say a thing! He will just know. Maybe pick out a variety, some for lighter days and some for heavier days. Eventually you will probably want to use tampons but they will probably be uncomfortable for you at first. And as far as the pain goes, every woman is different. I've never had a problem with my periods and they have usually been pain free.

You are only ten years old, so you probably have at least two to four years to wait on it. It isn't anything to rush though. Every woman is different with theirs though. I am about to be twenty, and my period is just about to be regulated. What I mean is that for your first years your period will be irregular. Don't sweat it because you can talk to a nurse about this at the school when you get one. She can explain everything to you. If I were you I would wear pads for at least the first year. Tampons can be very uncomfortable for first starters. On average a period is supposed to last 3 to 5 days. Also, there are different absorbents for it, and every package has directions on them.

well, i got mine in 5th grade, i think i was 11.my sister dind't get hers till 8th grade, and my mom got hers in 6th.Just start carrying around in your purse,a few pads, I always carry a few, cause i seem to be the one who give ti to people who just started, and don't won't to go to the nurses office and ask. but as i was saying just carry a few, and when it happens, if you want, and are allowd to , call home. I have had mine for a while now, and don't experience extreme pain, just minor, and I think God for that. Headaches, happen sometimes for me, backaches is more the problem i face. and yes, they are painful.I don't know if you have agrqandmother to comfront to get you items you need, you may want to go ahead and get you some midol, and put it in the school office, I have only taken tylenol for me. I hope everything works out, and that you can enjoy a few more years of life before you start, you never really know when.

period will come aroundthe ages 9-16, depending on how fast your body develops. the first few times you get your period it won't at all be painful. if you get it, don't be afraid to tell your father. yes, it is embarassing, but he knows somethings since he was married to your mom and has dealt with females before. i'd start with pads, until you are comfortable with tampons. don't worry about it, i'm sure you'll be ready when it comes. :)

When you start your period i suggest you go to beinggirl.com or go before your period so your ready. You can talk to people there and Ask Iris. Everything is helpful there. When you start your period you might want to try pads first then you can try tampons if you wish.

I got my period in 7th grade and my sister got hers in 8th grade. Everyone is different and it is hard to say what your period is going to be like.
