Its all a load of rubbish. I'm quite sure that in the 80's the interpretation of this would have been the USSR which is obviously Eastern Europe, now the big bad wolf is the Arabs because we're fighting over oil. It could also be N Korea, the far East, or the threat from China, far East, or any other Muslim country in the Far East for that matter which has seen a rival of fundemental Islam. These predictions are vague and open to all sorts of interpretation as result. Also there have been loads of academic rows over the actual translation of the original passages and the fact that they have been altered by each interpretation through the ages. If you're really worried about the end of the world, I'd look at the real issues of Poverty, Resources and Climate change, before worrying whether the Anti Christ is in Washington or not, although of course the less mature political observer might assert that he already is. ;)

The east is a big place and may produce many leaders and terrorists who may be given the title of an anti-christ. If his prediction becomes fact it may well be from a not so obvious place within the east, a place not yet suspected. Then again he may hail from the east but be right under our nose. Of course we humans like mysteries and can easily take a world event and bend it to fit a prediction like this.

It could mean China in the East.

It seems that the Chinese are taking over the industrial and manufacturing world and we cannot do much about it because they are so cheap.

If you run the world industrially and commercially, you effectively control the economies of the countries around the world and can hold governments to ransom as they depend so much on you.

Global power would be in the hands of the man at the top.....the Chinese leader. What if he were the person described in the 3rd prediction?

His predictions were sometimes vague so it might be and might not be. I mean every place on the earth is east of someplace else so....East has been traditionally referred to or believed to be Asia with the Arabic/Indian nations as the Middle East so it could be that or it could mean East as in eastcoast USA. Who knows.... I'd don't really believe in all the Christ/Anti-Christ mumbo-jumbo anyway. Evil's evil no matter what direction it comes from.

Always bear in mind where Nos was when he wrote it all. He was based in France and most directions are in relation to France.
Also he said that the 3rd Anti-Christ would be seen as a man of peace first before leading us all into the pit.

In the bible it says that the anti-christ will be someone we trust. Therfore that tells me that the anti-christ will not be any sort of political figure. There is a self proclaimed savior in the east right now called Matyre(not sure of spelling). It is suggested that he is the anti-christ.

Well the U.S. is considered to be apart of the western world. So im gonna take a guess and say he is not talking about America.

Im not saying hes talking about the Arab world either. I just doubt it is America.

Since nobody is sure exactly what Nostrodamus exactly meant, I can't give you a definitive answer.

My guess though is that since he was in France when he wrote that Quatrain then he was thinking East from there.
