Involuntary motion of the epiglotis...

there's this little flap that covers either your windpipe (trachea) or the tube to the stomach depending on whether you're breathing or swallowing. If the little flap moves involuntarily, you hiccup.

It's a spasm of the diaphragm. My solution is to take in a very, very deep breath, and keep trying to fill your lungs even though they seem completely full, and hold it for as long as you can. The hiccups will go away.

I'm not sure what a hiccup is or what causes them. I would like to know myself.
