he was pulled over for drink-driving...big no no
he then "had a go" at the cops who arrested him...no no
he then took a pop at the jews ( who we knew he didnt care for after the passion) a very big no no.
if he wants to kill himself with booze then fair enough, but don't go around sharing your naziesque views on others...he'll probley get away with it anyway..a few weeks clearing freeways and then home.

When drunk and while being arrested, he talked bad about Jews (saying they started all history's wars, etc; which may for the most part be true- I'm not sure, but I know they're typically good at war). Since so many people have prejudices against the Jews, and they have in so many instances been persecuted, a part of society is very sensitive to hostility towards them; people want to make sure Jews don't get treated badly or discriminated against. Any time someone talks bad about Jews or African-Americans or any group, people naturally get upset because prejudice, the lumping of everyone in one race together, is considered *bad* in this day in age. (I think it's a bit natural-there are reasons we do it- but hey, what does that matter?) Anyhow, in Mel Gibson's situation, I don't think it's that unexpected. Hollywood is filled with Jews, and I mean *filled*. They tend to be good at lots of things, maybe so talented and resilient because of what their people has been through, historically, and Hollywood in particular is a place where Jews shine. They're commonly prodcers, directors, actors, ETC. So, it's not like Mel Gibson hasn't had any experience with them. He's probably worked with them many times. One of those times, or probably more than one of those times, a Jew maybe pissed him off, or many Jews did (he's one of not that many people who have probably had enough dealings with Jews to have reasons to dislike them based on dealings/not prejudice). Also, his movie The Passion of the Christ was considered by some people to be anti-semetic (sp?)/somewhat hostile to Jews. If that's true, Gibson's drunken comments about Jews "proved" that he is anti-semetic. However, if he dislikes them, maybe it has to do with religious beliefs, and even if he does dislike them, that doesn't mean he's a raging Jew-hater. Every group of people has things in common, so it's not so ridiculous to lump people together by race; stereotypes exist for a reason. Maybe Jews who do fit the sharp-elbowed, super-successful, shrewd stereotype in Hollywood just piss Mel Gibson off, not because they're Jews, but b/c of how they are (and again, it is possible that many of them act somewhat the same at times, just as it's possible that all Australians or all caucasians act somewhat the same in ways). Or maybe he feels like they did bad things in history. So what? Those are just opinions. And he was drunk. I say, given his workplace (Hollywood), and his religious beliefs, it's not that surprising. If you're a Jew, put Mel Gibson on the bad list; if not, move on.

He released an Anti-Semitic tirade at the arresting officer, even asking him if he was a Jew, and claimed that the Jews were responsible for all the wars in the world. Can't blame him entirely, he was raised by a father who claims the Holocaust was mostly fictional.

Drinking and driving..and then talking while drunk. Happened to be about jewish people. I think people are making way to much out of all of it. I know that the stuff that comes out of my mouth when im drunk is all bologna...people are saying they were his real thoughts and that alcohol makes people tell the truth they have been keeping inside. i think all the hype is dumb. he has apologized twice and entered rehab, media needs to leave it alone. Just another blip on the celebrity mess up screen.

well he drove drunk for one thing which is always bad because he could have seriously injured or killed someone.
also, he made really bad anti-semetic remarks to the cops arresting him (one of whom was jewish) and at the time, he was working on a film with ABC about some unknown truths about the Holocaust, which ABC then had to cancel and it cost them a ton of money,
also, I guess he has been battling alcoholism for awhile so it looks like he had a slipup which is really dangerous for him and all those around him.

Drunk driving is plenty terrible. It kills lots of innocent people on the highways. Just because he's a celebrity doesn't make him immune from the laws. At least he was honest enough to admit it.

He was driving drunk and gave a pretty scathing rant about jews when the cops pulled him over. Typical celebrity behaviour.

He was driving drunk and got pulled over by a cop. Then he started spouting things about the jews. The cop was, unfortunately, a jew.

His anti- Semitic tirade, while in an inebriated state, has really hurt Jews all over the world.
