i read a story years ago in school that was based on a lottery that would allow the winner to go to a fair. on the rides people would be killed. it's a short story. can you tell me the name of it and who wrote it??

i read the story that ya'll thought it was but that's not it. this one had rides. one person was electricuted in it, the ride was like the gravitron. they put the bodies in black trash bags at the end of the story.

They don't ride rides though, the get stones thrown at them.

PLease Don't believe that is is based on a true story. It is pure fiction, but it is intended to teach us lessons about Blind Obedience and questioning traditions.

Shirley Jackson's "Lottery." and it wasn't a fair, the town actually killed the person as an offering to the gods for a good harvest. It was also mad into a movie. The disturbing this is that this was based on a true story, right here in the US back in the 1930. You can easily get more infor on Google.
