So i've been having conversations with my wife and I've come to realize she's pretty brainwashed just like a lot of other Americans. These are some things she said, tell me what you think.

On the war in Iraq and the justification given for the war she said:
"they had bombs pointed at us, they said it on the news, i don't want them to bomb us."

On the presidential elections she said:
"my mom, and my grandaddy always voted republican, so I always look to them first."

On the patriot act:
"what is that, hey we still have all our freedoms and can say whatever we want and do whatever we want, so bush must be doing something right."

These are just some of the things she's said, what do you think about these?

Heretic, try these out, okay?

ON THE SUBJECT OF BOMBS:

Say that Bush said there were chemical and biological bombs, and in over three years, nobody has found them; and nobody found even a thimblefull of radioactive material to make a nuclear bomb either. Don't you think if they found these things they'd be screaming about them on TV? But they gave up on that argument over two years ago and admitted there weren't any bombs, and they changed their tune to saying, "Oh well, so there weren't any bombs, but the world is better off without Saddam anyway."

And if your wife says, that's right, then say, "and America is better off without thousands of new graves and a stronger Al Quaeda, and the Iraqi people would be better off without a civil war like the one they've got now.

ON THE SUBJECT OF REPUBLICANS:

Say this. Say, "Yeah, they always voted for Republicans because back then there were Republicans worth voting for. But growing up means making personal choices and not always doing something because 'mommy' did it. So take a giant step, make choices for yourself, and stop using your family as an excuse for not taking the responsibility to think and decide for yourself -- it's time to grow up little girl."

Hope these help.

Your right she is brainwashed. We shouldn't be in Iraq. President Bush made big fat mistake that is costing us money.Did you know last year American spent more than they saved? That hasn't happen since the Great Depression.

On the presidential elections. I hope your rich , cause that's who the republicans are for . President Bush gives tax cuts to the upper class and hands the bill over to the middle class.

On the patriot act . If that's how she feels then she is blind.

I won't judge her intelligence (obviously, b/c I've never met her) but she doesn't seem to have her facts straight.

I don't align with a particular party (if anything, I'm libertarian) but she seems very content with the status quo (I'm not - I question everything). If she votes along party lines simply b/c it's her "heritage" without actually learning, analyzing and deciding for herself, I'd have to say that's unfortunate...to put it nicely. Encourage her to really examine what's going on for herself. It's very easy to follow in your family's footsteps but that doesn't mean it's necessary or the best way to think. I find my parents to be ignorant on some topics and somewhat narrow minded both socially and economically...they're willing to vote along party lines without real examination of the issues.

Maybe you could give her a crash course and tell her the truth - that there wasn't a Bay of Pigs Part II...what news station is she watching by the way?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? They should be taken off the air!!

Explain the Patriot Act and the anti-civil-rights aspects. We CANNOT do or say anything! Overall, you can't necessarily fault her for this ignorance or willingness to remain within that ignorance. Learning and growth starts at home - of which was clearly stifled during her upbringing.

This isn't just about political ignorance, it's about her inability to see through her parent's opinions and accepting what she hears without analytically thinking about it. THIS is the big problem; do you want to have children who cannot think for themselves and miscomprehend all they hear to suit themselves (this is the only explaination for her thinking bombs were pointed at us. Does she really think they have long range guided missile capabilities?!?). Just something to ponder before she has your babies.

Um....

Well, the things she say prove she's gullible. She's not brainwashed. She's just easily influenced by the news and her parents.

I'd perhaps convince her to watch different news programming. Perhaps ones less conservative?

Many in American have become sheep...which follow the herd...that follows the Judas goat...that leads them to slaughter. (I used to work in a slaughter house but the analogy applies). We've stopped thinking for ourselves...we're more interested in Hollywood, who's doing who, who won NASCAR or the ball game, what's on TV...and Hollywood, selfish politicians and the media are leading us to slaughter. WAKE UP AMERICA...we need to get involved and make a difference!

I would imagine that she was brought up in a Christian home, and discouraged from asking questions that had any type of fact-based answers. She was probably not encouraged to learn anything other than what she was told.
