Being Liberal is a disgrace. Being a democrat usually, but not always, tend to see things as very liberal. Liberals tend to see the negaive of things and can't seem to understand that thier are postive things out there. When there is a Democrat in office, liberals keep their mouths shut and don't complain about nothing, even when the government is robbing them. But let a Republican president take office and suddenly, that president doesn't know what they are doing.

The Democrat leadership embraces "liberalism", thus Democrats, whether liberal or not, are labled liberals, socialists, progressives, and communists.
The Democrat Party is not what it used to be, ask any "old" person who has been a life long Democrat.
It has become a liberal progressive socialist organization that points fingers and blames rather than work toward real solutions.
BTW, I am not a Republican.
Sorry about your luck.

Because labeling people removes their individuality and makes them part of a group. This removes the need to judge them on their character.

I am liberal on some issues, and conservative on others. I have voted Democrat, Republican, and 3rd party. I have been labeled a "libtard" simply because of my stance on individual issues, when in reality, I lean toward "classic conservative" on most issues.

There are quite a few conservative Democrats (Zel Miller and Joe Lieberman come to mind) but those who equate Democrats with liberalism are too narrow-minded to notice.

I guess those who are bashing liberals are against liberty, too, because that is where liberalism comes from. If liberty is a mental disorder, then call me crazy - the crazier, the better...

The Liberal ideology is a theory which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality.
They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong government to enslave its people with a high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working class.
The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.
A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous
gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from
the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy

I am neather insulted nor disgraced, I wear my liberalism proudly.

Liberalism is an ideology, philosophy, and political tradition that holds liberty as the primary political value.[1] Broadly speaking, liberalism seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power, especially of government and religion, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports relatively free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of minorities are guaranteed. In modern society, liberals favour a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed[2]. Liberalism rejected many foundational assumptions which dominated most earlier theories of government, such as the Divine Right of Kings, hereditary status, and established religion. Fundamental human rights that all liberals support include the right to life, liberty, and property. In many countries, "modern" liberalism differs from classical liberalism by asserting that government provision of some minimal level of material well-being takes priority over freedom from taxation. Liberalism has its roots in the Western Enlightenment, but the term now encompasses a diversity of political thought, with adherents spanning a large part of the political spectrum, from left to right. In the context of economics, the term "liberalism" refers to economic liberalism, which is associated with the political ideology of liberalism itself.

I wonder how many of these "wonderful" responses came from right-wing Christian Conservatives, who have yet to realise that Jesus Christ was the ULTIMATE bleeding heart liberal.

When someone calls me a Bleeding Heart Liberal (normally with a snarl), I say thank you.

Because republicans have been becoming more liberal as far as spending policies are concerned, it seems the fine line seems to have become not so fine.
