Possessiveness could be just friendship, if the possessive one is feeling insecure about themself. Then they get jealous easily because they're afraid you'll like others more than you like them. A confident person doesn't mind if their friends have other friends.

Possessiveness can be a sign of insecurity. In friendship it can mean that the other person doesn't want you to have other friends because they are afraid you won't want their friendship anymore. In love, it is unhealthy.
Sounds like just friendship from what you've described. You can never know for sure, 'tho.

Possessiveness is being over powering, controlling and actually a form of abuse....
It is in no way being loving whether in love or friendship.
