It's called empathy, they know it's embarassing, they been there and are just making light of the situation.

I really can't answer this. I used to laugh. But now I run to the person and help them.
It's not the same seeing it on TV. We all laugh then when we watch those funny videos. It's different when you are within distance to help. Yet, later when we know they are fine, we laugh. So it becomes a laughing matter again. I don't know why..... Something to do with defense I imagine. Like yawning when you see someone yawn.

Some people have a warped sense of humor. My husband recently threw his back out, and had to use a cane for a while. He was in intense pain. Someone he knows stopped, watched him, and just started laughing at him.

Seriously, people make the weirdest moves and gestures when they're about to fall. Their arms flail wildly, their legs dance, and the expression on their face as they know they can't stop themselves is simply priceless.
It's the same reason that physical comedy works.

People loved the three stooges with their slapping and slap sticks. If no injury occurs and it is a surprise, the others laugh with him and not against him I hope.

they laugh depending on the persons personality, if he acts tough, supirior, etc they will probably laugh because falling on the ground is simbolic of failure or being lower than others

well my friend saw a guy fall on the trendmill and he fell asleep while trendmilling and he was werid he was crazy

because they are stupid..i don't see anything funny in slipping on something..or falling and get your ankle sprained...It could happen to anyone..so It's nothing hilarious
