I guess it depends on the country where you live. I like to open the doors for the older man or woman. But I'm not originally from the UK, and in the country where I live it's... Hard to believe - but it's a terrible situation, when the older one has to stand in the bus and all the youngster pretending they can't see him... Anyway, it really depends on the education, tolerance for other people. Help older :-) Cause we will be the same - old and with wrinkles. And we will want anybody to help us. If I'm wrong - throw a stone into me.

Ive only just turned 18 today and I'm pretty immature but all in all i actually prefer the company of older people than to people my own age!!! Youngsters of today are pretty intimidating and some of the things that they do say about the older generations are really appalling!!! So its actually nice to hear that a group of young kids would actually do that for that man!!

I will turn 57 in a couple of months. I don't feel what I assume my mom felt like at that age. I work at a high school and know lots of young people who would probably do the same thing.
Of course, there are others who wouldn't...
Obviously the youngsters you saw were raised well by their parents..they are putting their good upbringing into practical use.
Nice story.

What you forgot to say is that they also nicked his wallet!
Some of today's youth are well brought up and polite, some are disgusting yobs who put the fear of God into people just by their attitude. Maybe it's not their fault - their parents should have done a better job bringing them up, rather than slinging them out in an evening or all day at weekends and letting them do whatever they want.
Yes I'm late 40s and a miserable old sod ... but my kids are well brought up and would have done just the same as those in your question (I hope!)

I am also encouraged by some of today's youth. I am 69 and when I was twenty I never thought I would get to be an older person. Its hard to get old, your thinking slows down, and your body which has served you so well all those years, begins to let you down. If I did not have the Lord Jesus in my life, it would be much harder, but up ahead I see going home to be with Him and old age becomes a gateway to a better place.

Whats older? I reckon a lot of old..er people seem to think young people are all the same and a lot of young people think that all older people are the same. Its time everyone took others at face value regardless of age.
If my 'addons' didn't run to help someone who'd fallen down, I want to know why.
Oh an I've just crept past 45 btw, so is that middle of the road?

All too often the minority of young people who don't behave well get greater publicity than the majority who are responsible and caring people. More highlighting of their good actions, like you have done, would give others an incentive to act likewise.
Young people who are at a vulnerable time in their lives, trying to find their standing in a confused world need to know that they matter. Easily influenced young people who find that is only the wrongdoers who get notice tend to imitate their actions. We need to let the majority know more often that we do appreciate them. Well done!

I'm not sure what at what age a person must be before they're considered an older person but I think your story is great. Everyone hears a lot of negative things that younger people do but we all need to acknowledge that there are some great young people out there. Thanks for the reminder!

See, there are still good people out there. I'm 23. The other day I helped an old lady cross the road. I've never done it before but I felt pretty good afterwards especially as she said 'thank you'.
