Democracy is the ultimate facade. There's no such thing.

As long as I remember, Israel has (formally) the separation between state and religion. In fact even a Muslim or an atheist can be Prime Minister of Israel. You may question the validity of democracy in Israel on other grounds, but not on this one.

Who said a Catholic cannot be PM of Israel. David Ben Gurion, the first Israeli Prime Minister was a practicing Buddhist for many years.

Well, democracies do get to decide who is eligible to run for the top office in their country. Democracy doesn't mean anyone can do anything and everyone has to accept everything. In the US, you have to be born in the US. Isn't that the point of a democracy -- to be able to make rules/laws that express the will of the people?

A democracy does not imply everyone can be anything. That would cause chaos.

America is a Western "democracy" but only American citizens by birth can be president.

For the same reason the USA is considered a democracy but unless you were born here you cannot be president.

Anyway, names of governments are almost artibitrary... look at north korea, they call themselves a republic. What a joke.
