They will grow wild in tropical locations without much care except for making sure they have plenty of water. I have seen them flourish in non-nutrient sand here in Florida. The tree is actually a coconut palm and grows wild here. I don't know if it's an original Florida plant or was imported hundreds of years ago from the Mediterranian.

i think everybody in america must plant one coconut tree and drink the coconut drink from the shell. it is much better than coke and pepsi and your brain slowly starts working again fromthe state of dead meat it is in already

i live in southern part of india which is everywhere its coconut tree. i have seen them using plain salt as fertiliser along with water.
