Well since your avatar is female im guessing you are as well....try "my heel broke as I was walking to my car and i sprained my ankle'...this may even get you 2 days ...just think a 4 day weekend!
Your dog got out of the yard , and you have to go find him because he has attitude issues and you cant risk it.
Your power went out in the middle of the night and is still out you need to wait for a repairman.
This one works with any utility pretty much. You central a/c broke....waiting on repairman.
Refridgetator broke you need to get coolers for your food.......and wait for reapairman.
You mom/dad/best friend/husband has to go to the emergency and you have to take them.
You got bit by a spider in the night sometime and the swelling is so huge its impairing your abolity to work. Hand--you cant type/ write/ answer phones....face-- you cant see out of one eye swelling so bad etc...
try any one of these they should work very well.

No need to make excuses , just call in and say that you are not going to make it in today . If you are of any value to the company they will accept this , and there will be no more questions asked about it .

You can use an act of God as an excuse. Though normally it means weather.
You can say "It was an act of God theat my alarm clock did not go off this morning."

i live in mumbai, so here r some excuses ive heard, a. yesterday there was a blast near my place, im still recovering. b. the transport system is on strike. c. my ......... met with an acident, im in the hospital with .......d. im sick (of my job routine) take yr pick
