It's a running joke at work.

"Livin' the dream. And you?"

I'm well, thank you!:)

I don't like the expression "I'm fine". For me, this means that the person is not really well and doesn't want to say so and/or is in a bad mood.

If you ever hear me saying that, you can bet I'm not in a very good mood myself! ;)

Because we're never just "fine." And we know people are just asking the question to be polite. It's rhetorical, and we know they don't want a real answer. They don't really care, and we don't really care when we return the greeting.

If I am not close to U I don't think I would tell U that I am not that well because... blah.. blah.... as at times people just want to say a short hello but I just rant on it would be irritating!

if I'm in a good mood I say, I'm groovy, how are you?

if I'm not really doing good I say, I'm Fiane. and you? I'm southern so I meant to add the extra vowel in fine.

My standard answer to this question is, "Oh nothing a 6 month coma wouldn't fix".

Good. You?

It's only out of respect people even ask that.

I usually reply, "I'm doing fine, thanks." Lol! The silly thing is I'm usually not fine, but who wants to hear "I'm feeling horrible, my eyes sting and my feet ache"

"not too bad thanks hows yaself"
its so fake though when i think about it coz it is out of 'politeness' i mean who wants to hear me say "i feel like shyt, im mega stressed out, i cant cope with work n kids n housework n dogs n i have no time to myself n im so bloody tired.......and how are you today"
