I would still check into the University of Phoenix. I admit I am not sure about things considering that you are out of the US. But does not hurt to look

As a self-taught drummer myself, i can tell you that there really is no 'fast" way to learn an instrument. It takes a lot of patience, practice, discipline, and hard work. Now that being said, some people do learn quicker than others so it all depends on the person. I have two cousins that both play guitar and both are self-taught. My one cousin Terry practiced just about every day and picked it up quicker than my cousin Dave, who didn't practice nearly as much. Terry became pretty darn good in about 8 months. It all boils down to how determined you are, how much you practice, and how quickly you pick things up. My advice would be to get an instructional book or DVD and learn a few chords. If you do it on your own you will save a lot of money and you can go at your own pace. Guitar lessons are not cheap these days, unless you know someone. Just give it a shot on your own for a month or 2 and see how you progress. Then if you feel you need lessons to get better, then find a good teacher that won't be too expensive. But the key is to practice....practice.....practice! Good Luck!

"Life experience degrees" are another way of saying "give us the money, we give you the paper." It's not worth what it's printed on.

A degree takes time and effort, 128 to 132 hours for a real bachelor's. Some online programs allow you to complete it in less time, but you won't be looking at anything less than 2 or 3 years at a real institution.

I recommend the APUS system, the American Public University System (interestingly named, because it is a private entity) is one of the most reliable.

In general, online programs are expensive. And of course, programs in the US are expensive. You do not, however, need to be from a country, or living in a country, in order to get your degree from them online.

As I think you suspect, those "lifetime learning" programs that simply grant you a degree without you having to attend school with them are not genuine.

You have already done three years of university in Thailand. The fastest thing you can do, and probably the least expensive, is to complete your degree with your current school. If you try to transfer, many of your credits may not transfer with you, and it will take you longer to graduate. Also, as I said, online programs tend to be very expensive.

There are reputable, "brick and mortar" schools that offer degrees online. Their good reputation for their on-campus programs will flow over into their online program.

Some great universities that offer online degrees include:

University of Massachusetts at Amherst
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
University of Denver
University of Maryland
Duke University
Drexel
Carnegie Mellon
Penn State
Ball State
U Nebraska - Lincoln
Babson
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
University of Illinois
Oxford University (UK)
University of Liverpool (UK)

And there are others. But in general, when you're looking for a distance learning degree, try to find a program at a school that has a good reputation for their "brick and mortar" campus.
