My husband took out a home equity loan. His name is on the checking account, but he won't add me to it. Therefore, I cannot access the funds. He says he applied for the money, not US. Nevermind the fact the loan couldn't be finalized without my signature since we're both on title. I see now I made the mistake of not insisting I be on the account, but how wrong is he for not agreeing to add me on? Aren't I entitled also???

He pays the mortgage, and has for the 4 years we've lived in this house. Does that make a difference?

Your husband is wrong, because the two of you are married and major things, like taken out a loan that involves your house should involve you.

Sweetie, you are wrong. You don't have a job and therefore no credit. Asking for a loan with someone that has no credit hinders the chances of getting one or may raise the interest rate.

Also, if he has a checking account and you are not on it, it's just natural that he would ask for a loan based on his job and credit, not yours since you have neither.

Of course that you cannot ask for a home owners loan without the signature of the other mortgage owner,.. he overlooked this detail.

Was this loan taken to fix the house or payoff higher interest loans or credit cards? If so, then I don;t know what you are complaining since the purpose of the loan was to put it back into the family finances, If the purpose of the loan is a mistery, then you should be concern, otherwise, you shouldn;t.

It's quite natural and smart to have separate checking accounts to avoid problems such as this one. You are overreacting and point blank you don't understand aboout financing and loans and you think this is about you, don't you?

Good luck

You should not have signed for the loan without being added to the account then. Until the loan is paid back you are stuck. If he should default on the loan you will both be equally responsible for the debt. My advice, start your own account. Just in case.

yes, he is wrong. Furthermore since he doesn't want u t share the a/c, have u ever think of how much he love? my husband did what your husband do now, after years I realized he is a man planned for his won't benefit and the family. even after I had settled many big amount debts, he has never stopped betrayed me including luk for married partner in the internet. Talk to him nicely and find out is he cares only himself or both.

Of course he is. It also depends on what the loan was being used for. Remember, all that loan does is to remove the equity that you've built up in you house together.

Yes you are very in titled to the funds!!! He is very wrong I would take his azz to court and get whats rightfully yours before its all gone!!! If you don't want to go to that extreme then take his ATM card find out his code and make daily withdraws of 500 hundred dollars until you feel like you got what you deserve!!!

Yes you should be on that acct but many married couples have a main acct they share and then other accts that they dont share. I am not going to say this is right or wrong it just depends on the realationship. He should of not opened up the acct until he talked it over with you. He could have many reasons why he didnt put your name on it. Ask him why he did it with out putting your name on it aswell.

He is jsut very controlling, or maybe you have shown no resistence to spending money....either way, he is wrong from what you have told us here.....but I am sure there is so much more to the story...not that would change him being wrong, but without hearing it all, we can not make a proper decision for you

You shouldn't have signed the documents to finalize the loan.

Well if he wont put you on the account, tell him to give you half since you had to sign for it and open your own account.
