I could have sworn I was in labor on the 1st of August when I had some mildly intense contractions that were pretty regular for about 3 hours, but then they stopped. There was little contraction action yesterday & then last night while I was trying to sleep I had quite a few painful ones. These were bad enough to make me moan in pain. I just got up & I had a contraction that made my jaw drop because it hurt so bad, but I am still very skeptical as to whether I could be in labor. Should I walk around or take a shower or what?

Try taking a shower and see if they contrax continue.

You could also try drinking a big glass of water and laying down to see if they go away. (Being dehydrated can cause contrax.)

If they are so intense that you can't do anything else but concentrate on getting through them and they are coming regularly then they may be active labor.

Take your shower or a bath(they are more relaxing) Real contractions should be 3-5 min. apart and lasting about 30-40 sec. Always call your doctor when in doubt. Thats what they are there for. If your water breaks or you start having a bloody show they will have you go in. Main thing is keep track of contractions (maybe write them down if it makes it easier) and call the doctor w/the pattern. If your in labor your lucky!! My first kid I was a week late and they had to induce.

Call your Dr.'s office and ask them what they want you to do. It does sound like you are in labor or about to start. Figure out how far apart your contractions are. It won't hurt you to wait awhile, until they are closer together. When this happened to me I took a shower, made lunch so it'd be ready when my husband took his break, walked the dog and then called the Dr.'s office. They told me to go to the hospital. By that point I was obviously in labor and by the time I got to the hospital it was hurting pretty bad. I had to wait for awhile before they admitted me (they wanted me to start with the new nursing shift so I'd have the same nurse the whole time).

I had braxton hicks contractions that were pretty painful at that stage. The key is that they need to be regular and progress. You can walk, take a shower, or what ever makes you feel comfortable.

False. I fairly do not like being hugged. Probably explains why I'm nonetheless unmarried. BQ: Never. I could have danced at a marriage ceremony reception, however then everyone else there gave the impression of a Canoe, it wasn't simply me.

Walk around and take your shower. The rule is - if they are 5 minutes apart for an hour then call the doc.
