Unless it's for research, I think what could a seventeen magazine possibly hold for a forty year old. Then again, look at star, and ok, and us weekly-no one is accusing adults who buy those magazines of being a little strange-and their just reading about the lives of people they'll never even meet! I'd say seventeen has more substance than gossip magazines.

I am 53 and I suscribe to teen magazines for several reasons. 1) I want to have my finger on the pulse of what is going on in the world with teens as the magazine's perspective indicates. 2) I am a teacher and my classroom is filled with magazines from all genres in order to encourage reading. We have SDAR (Stop, Drop and Read) at least once per week and I encourage magazines a lot since the kids don't like to read novels and/or short stories. They will if they are in magazines that grab their attention. My male students will read sports magazines, vehicles/motorcycles and other hobby type magazines. I also use them to encourage students to submit poetry and other short stories they write (Readers' Digest) So, overall, I probably would not order a teen magazine, but as a teacher, I must be involved and learn what questions teens ask, what situations they are faced with and often will not share, and just what's going on in the world.

It just depends...does this 40 year old have children between 13-21? Sometimes one might buy the mag to keep in touch with their kids and what's "hot" and what's not. It's not so wierd is that is the reason. Otherwise...maybe it's a little wierd. I am 40 something and the only reason I would get the mag is for the above reason. Hope this helps...just giving you a diff pt of view.

Yes it is, I am 18 and don't even find it intresting anymore. A 40 year old needs to be reading about spicing up the sex life.

maybe just a bit odd. it would be really odd if you tried to dress younger than you are by 10 or 20 years.
