U have nothing 2 do with your processor or clock speed. U must b running ur PC after long intervals. The CMOS battery gets discharged if its kept uncharged for too long. When u run ur PC the CMOS battery is charging, so all u have 2 do is 2 keep the PC on for 25 mins. and then restart ur PC. It will work for sure and if it doesn`t go for replacing yourbattery with a new one.

For all that i know, there is a large button cell(rechargeable) on your motherboard which is responsible for keeping the system clock running even when you switch off the system. As time progresses it reduces in performance and may not respond as usual. So, i guess the you try replacing the cell with a new one. It is not very expensive ( 30-40 INR).

The statemnet given by you show the problem with these Parts:

Bios Cell
Power Supply
RAM

there is a possibilty that Power supply is creating this problem due to relay failure. Try to test the system with a new power supply or some other working power supply of your friends system.

You have too many programs running in the background for the size of your processor and memory. Get some off them off through the control panel by installing them. There are other tweaks too but I can't go into that here as it would just take up too much space and time.

1) what OS are you running on?
2)how many applications have you installed?
3)have you ever defrag your harddisk?
4)what hardware have you installed or added?
5)from the scant information i gathered, your pc is at least 5 years old, i'm surprised it still work after 20 mins.
so what do you intend to do about it?

it has nothing to do with your operating system or anything. i am not a computer specialist or anything, but i am quite familiar with computers. i have not heard of something like this happening in the past, but i have a feeling that maybe it is a virus. one friend of mine got a virus which caused his CD-drive to constantly open and close, non stop whenever the computer was on. maybe you have a similar virus which effects how the computer works. sorry i cannot be any more of help.
