It is completely natural for higher lifeforms to kill and consume smaller animals. Always has been, always will be. Did you think this was some new thing that just began?? Can you ask a cat to stop killing mice? Can you ask a dolphin to stop munching fish? How about those cows eating up all that helpless grass?? Drop the PETA'esque attitude and eat a steak. You know you want one........

There are lots of reasons people hunt. Food & sport are the primary two. Most hunters I know eat everything they kill & don't kill for the sake of killing.

Another advantage of hunting is that the majority of money for national parks & government funded animal conservation comes from money that make selling hunting licences.

Personally, I think there is a more deeply rooted reason. We are a part of nature, not above it. Going out and hunting, cleaning, & cooking your own food helps us remember that. Lots of folks feel that killing an animal is wrong & they are entitled to that opinion, but I feel they are simply too arrogant and fanatical to realize that we are all integrated with nature and hunting is a way of participating in it. I don't hunt, but every single hunter I know has more respect for nature and animals than any PETA fanatic out there.

Many people still hunt animals for food. In America most hunting is for sport. Unfortunately many rare animals are being hunted illegally because it's believed that certain animal body parts can be used in medicine to cure whatever ailment (which isn't true).

All I have to say is that I myself could never hunt but for those out there who do, good for you. What most people don't understand is that most hunting these days is not just sport. I have hunters in my family and they use all the meat that is taken from that animal. Hunting is also beneficial for the wildlife being hunted. Man has hunted animals since we evolved into man, and its what keeps animal populations in check. Otherwise we would be over run with to many deer, or other animals. Which is not bad for us, but bad for them. To many deer or other animals would cause shortage of food for other species and would cause mass starvation. Not to mention they can become a nuisance to farmers by eating the crops which in turn raises cost for vegetables for you vegetarians out there. Hunting has and always will be a part a human kinds behavior. We are at the absolute top of the food chain. Many say that it isn't fair to the animal because we have guns and that isn't truly hunting. Evolution people. We developed technology to aid us in hunting our prey. It's no different for other animals, take the Archer Fish
'Toxotes jaculatrix' for example. Over time it developed the ability to squirt water at insects that were previously out of reach outside the water. Because we have a higher developed mind to create guns does not make as barbaric in any way, just more efficient at it. And for those of you who would rather go the creationist theory over evolution. We were created with the intent of domain over animals and created with the teeth to eat them. It has and always will be this way.

Mostly for food , but animals are also hunted to control their population . The more animals that there are in a group the more likely they are to carry a disease . They are also hunted to help ease the effects of over grazing , if there is not enough food for the population many of the animals would starve to death .

Why people hunts animals? Because they got sooooo bored in English class they decided to go kill something yummy to eat rather than learn to say "Why do people hunt animals?"

for the thrill. In virgina there is a hunt where you get spears and you hunt boars.

Other people hunt for a way of life like the Indians. THey use eveything of the buffalo. The Japanese, and Norweigians hunt whales for their fat and meat. Plus for them whales are used for oil.

I think its horrible how people hunt to just kill.

Some view it as a sport. I myself don't because the animal doesn't know it is in a game for it's life. Others hunt for specific food that you cant buy legally in a grocery store such as deer meat. I like deer meat myself but i don't think i could bring myself to shooting one.
