I don't think that Israel comes to ask out permission for anything that they do. If in fact there were high-level consultations prior to action being taken, I don't see any problem with that. While taking on Hezbollah is certainly not going to be a clean or easy task, I think there is a general consensus that it is a worthy goal in the long view. Most of the objections that I have seen to what Israel is up to center around the fact that innocent civilians are paying a heavy price in the midst of the strikes. Certainly Israel deserves some blame for this, but then so does Hezbollah, who are known to pay civilian sympathizers to store weapons and shelter their fighters. Nobody wants to see dead children on the news, and Israel should exercise all possible restraint. With that in mind, it is also deplorable for Hezbollah to hide behind the Lebanese people, but then again this is a typical tactic of this kind of terrorist group.
As for the ferocity of the resistance that Hezbollah is putting up, that should merely strengthen the resolve of everyone concerned to break the back of this threat to peace and stability all the more, since their goals and ideloogy are well known, as are their benefactors, Syria and Iran, who have nothing good in mind for the region, particularly the Iranian "Caliphate" pipe dream.

The USA, along with the Arab League, gave their tacit approval to Israel's aim of wiping out Hezbollah. Doing so does not involve completely leveling Lebanon. Lebanon chose to be involved in this fight by letting Hezbollah become part of Lebanese society, rather than disarming them as mandated by the UN.
The usual criticism of Israel over this military action by Arab/Muslim countries (except Iran and Syria) is notably missing. Their silence is deafening. Most Arabs realize that Hezbollah is dangerous to them.
Israel has done everything reasonable to avoid civilian casualties in Lebanon. Hezbollah has not done the same to Israel.
Israel buys or manufactures its weapons on the open market. It does not usually buy them directly from the US government. The US is not making any money supporting Israel.
Anderson Cooper is an ignorant, biased knucklehead who is being led around by the nose.

Probably not... Think about it. North Korea has nuclear weapons, Iran is not to be laughed at, Iraq is taking its toll more and more each day....... What better way to spread your enemy thin?
Yes, Israel is not fighting the exact same group of terrorists but sympathizers to the Islamic cause will be divided. In affect, this could make the situations easier in Afghan and Iraq.
So, did America give the 'greenlight'? No. But I think America is taking advantage of the situation. In all truth, this Israel/Lebannon conflict may have either prolonged or shortened our stay in the region(Well, atleast our obvious occupation... because we will always be there in other ways).

USA is control by Israel, therefore it is not the question of green light. There is may be a bigger plan then invading Lebanon and no body know that except neocons.

i believe the U.S.A. 'gave permission' to Israel to level Lebanon. i believe most of the civilized world is 'giving permission' to Israel to level Lebanon if need be. don't listen to rhetoric of the politicians, listen through your eyes to what is happening and what does happen.
