about something which they did and which they feel was wrong but say they are embarassed to talk about or feel guilty about but want to talk.how would you help them begin,open up,without being pushy

Ask them to email or write it down....or even draw a picture....

I think that this is not something that can be done based on ONE incident. Developing a pattern of open communication is something that happens over time, if it is not already in place when something like this happens----then it is very hard.

Kids need to know that adults/parents are there for them, not to judge them but to guide them and support them in making good choices. This happens best if it is done from the very begining.....good communication does not happen overnight.

Tell her/him that u'll be there 2 help and encourage the kid/teen 2 open up. If thats not working just give the person some time and be extremly patient. Be kind and good and give attention 2 her/him. He/ she will open up soon (it works 4 me!!!)

They have to know you won't do anything with the info they give you. They don't want to be betrayed.
Get them involved in an activitiy together; talking may follow.

firstly u shud try to get frndly wid them,
den try sharing ur probs also wid dem, n wen dey feel comfortable wid u ask dem in a normal way!!
