I play Counter Strike and i am not the only lady who enjoys this game , but very often i am not being taken seriously by mist of the guys. It's that mentality that the woman should remain home .. not doing anything

Unfortunately, most men let their egos override their common-sense. Women can be just as good as the guys at computer games, sometimes even better. Personally, I believe that guys really can do only three things better than women as a whole...cook, wage war and pee standing up. In everything else, the ladies can be just as good, if not better. So you hang in there and recognize a threatened male ego when you see it. Best of luck, little lady.

I got a question for ya... how good are you at Counter-Strike. You enjoy playing counter-strike but your probably not so good. What i think is that girls are not good a games on xbox and PS2 because there hands dont seemed relaxed and there always taking there eyes off the screen to look at the buttons saying "wheres the start button". THough girls might be better at computer games then they are at games on the platforms because they are used to the configuration of the keyboard. That is my input. So for the girls who like to play platform games i say this. Stick to Dance Dance Revolution, Eye toy, The Family feud games, and wheel of fortune

It's a stereotype probably born out of partial statistical truth. Maybe because men tend to play games more often, and more men, than women, play video games. There probably are more male gamers out there than female gamers. However, I happen to know a whole bunch of females who play video games, and would kick my butt any day at certain games. Sexism can be a natural byproduct of society, or someone's upbringings. It could be a byproduct of their culture even. A whole bunch of reasons why people are sexist. But as far as I can see, most female gamers that I have met, are just as good as males at gaming. It's just a statistical thing that not many females are gamers, and so, some males automatically assume that when a female wants to bring her game, that she can't be taken too seriously or as much of a challenge.

Don't worry about the haters that won't take you seriously, they're just young, possibly immature and are not willing to accept that a female can play CS just as well as a male can. The clan that I play with used to have a woman that could PLAY and even own all our butts not to mention she is very attractive. So indeed skill on CS is not limited to males and if they continue to talk crap just ignore them, pretend they aren't even talking to you.

lol i notice that thing everytime i go to an internet cafe. many people play CS either on LAN, or web and sometimes there are some girls playing too and they are not being taken seriously. i dont think that it's this mentality you mention, it's some natural competition between men and women and maybe we feel that such things as video games "belong" to us and it doesnt seem write for women to play them too. i know it's unreasonable, you that's it.

My girl plays Call of duty 1 & 2 very good, she also helps me
during adventure games like Silent hill. (What a nice game!)
I think girls ARE or Can be good video-gamers...

Girls can play! If they talk down about you (call you dyke, ugly, guy pretending to be a girl etc) it's ONLY because they are jealous of your talent and are ashamed that they lack your skills! They feel threatened by you. Plus they are usually pre-pubescent boys who don't know any better. I stole the game off my little brother, he doesn't want to play against me either =(
Most guys respect me now on Halo, I kick them back into their mamma's nether regions when they are out of line.

If you like something a lot, like videogames, it doesn't matter wether you're a boy or girl. It happened for boys to have the higher population in gaming. We don't know if in 10 or 100 years, girls will have higher standards.

I dont know who you are speaking about that consider women gamers inferior because in my online gaming experience women gamers are sought after.
