If your asking about the vacuum modulator, it is located on the side of the transmission above the pan and has a vacuum line going to it. If you pull the vacuum line off and there is fluid in it - it is bad.

Do you mean Powertrain Control Module? Which is either between the brake booster and left fender. Or between the wiper blades on the firewall. Ford incorporated all powwertrain functions into one box. And you will need to reprogram a new one or a used module with specific information and Calibrate# on the left door jamb

if an old auto trans it's on passenger side rear

If newer controlled by solenoid internally and by PCM
