The only way to restore it back to the way it was when you first bought it is to:
1) See if the computer has a system recovery utility. This restores an image of your computer's hard drive in a hidden partition and restores your PC back to its original state. I have had to do this already. Most new computers have this ability.
2) Use your computer's system restore CD or DVD that may or may not have come with your PC when you originally bought it.
For either of these, make sure all of your data is backed up on a disk different from the one you have your operating system stored on. For example, if you have two hard drives in your computer (C: and D:), the OS is installed on C:, so make sure all of your files are backed up to D: and to an optical disk (CD or DVD) or a USB memory key before doing that. Include your favorite places and email, too!

Depends whether you mean XP or the PC itself.
The PC you would have to get into the Bios and restore the defaults.
XP you can either go back to one of your restore point, ie Help then choose restore, or being extreme re installing XP which isnt as bad as it sounds

Keeping in mind that ALL the data on your computer will be lost, the only way to do what you are looking for is to reinstall using the restore disks that should have come with your computer.

to take a computer to factory settings you must factory restore..you do this process by using the re- boot disks that came with your computer..usually it is a three disk series...just insert the first one into your hard drive and it will prompt you to do the rest...
