It's the BEST motivation! Well, secondary to financial incentives.

I hate to say it, but yes! - I get really busy the closer I get to whatever deadline I'm about to miss!! I "work well under pressure" - & since I've become a queen procrastinater, I usually am definitely "contents under pressure"!! lol For instance, I'm supposed to go camping with my sons' boy scout troop & we leave tomorrow night. Have I packed? Do I know where my bug spray & sunscreen are? Nope! I'll do allllll of that tonight & get to bed at 1 a.m. There's gotta be a better way! Can anybody organize me & my life? Maybe I should make a New Years resolution - next year!

I think many people will just drag on what they are suppose to do if there's no deadline to meet. In a way, sometimes I too will slack, but if I know that something is urgent and require my immediate attention, I do it irregardless of whether there's a deadline.
Sometimes its best not to let work pile up, no matter if its work, household chores, etc. When it really stack up too high, that person may panic as to how to do which one first.
Maybe because I am born in the year of the horse in the Chinese calendar, so I somewhat have the characteristics of a horse --- work comes first (hmm....maybe).

it is given to motivate you, but most of the people get busy thinking of deadline than executing it.
