it may have a connection but still have incorrect your signal is not your Internet it is the connection between two computers, your ssid or encryption could be wrong
we suggest you remove all wireless networks and start again
only proceed to the next one once you have working network
sometimes wireless can be not worth the hassle
have you set ssid and encryption as hackers will be able to use your Internet if you havent if they are local to you.

once you have removed and repaired all networks make sure you have good anti virus and firewall as windows XP will shutdown networks if they become unstable or insecure

how have you setup wireless network have you checked router for settings, restart the router if a wireless network goes down that is our first trouble shooting placea restart should fix any blocked ports. maybee re setup router hold indented button for seconds

Turn everything off (both PC's and the router), leave for 30 seconds and then turn on again. Turn on the router first and wait for it to make a connection to the internet before turning on the PC's.
If they still don't work then here's a checklist of things to look at.
Make sure that the router isn't close to a cordless phone base station as this can cause interference.
Have you got automatic updates turned on for the PC's ? If you have the try re-installing the driver/utility for the wirless aerial.
Have you upgraded the driver/utility for the aerial on you PC ? If so the try reverting to the previous version.
Are you using a manufacturer utility to make the wirless connection ? If so then try using the Windows utility instead
Do you have Anti-virus, anti-spam and firewall software ? If not then check for possible virus infections. Right click on the taskbar and open up Task Manager. Go to the Networking tab and look at the Network utilization percentage. If this isn't 0% or close to it then you may have a virus that is hogging all the bandwidth. The possible solutions for this are beyond the scope of thes type of answers but the simplest is to reformat the disks on the PC's and re-install Windows.
Have you installed/changed your firewall software ? If you have then it may have changed a setting and inhibited connectivity.
Have you changed/upgraded your anti-virus software ?
Have you changed/upgraded your anti-spam software recently ?
Have you changed any of the settings on the router recently ?
Have you turned encryption on between the router and PC's recently ? If you haven't then you should, if you have the check that you have the correct key in use.
Have you flashed the router software recently ?
Have you flashed to PC BIOS recently ?
Have you upgraded the motherboard chipset drivers recently ?
What type of account do your children use, Administrator od Limited ? If they have Administrator access then ask if they changed anything lst time they used the PC's. Some changes only take effect the next time you boot the PC.
Sorry to have answered your question with a long list of questions but unfortunately there isn't a simple yes/no type of answer.
Good luck
