House is always a house, You may do any thing to make it beautiful, put any amount of labour or money to beatify the house but it will remain house -- nor beatiful nor ugly. If you are intrested to make it beautiful you need only and only one but most important thing that is HUMAN Being living in it; really love each other and take care of each other and above all they are not selfish or materialistic.

I would say, nice, simple landscaping. Keeping debris out, making it look welcomed and fresh. The house itself should be kept up with small little repairs, and clean looking. It doesn't have to be the best on the block as long as things are simple, clean and enjoyable.
