To ease your mind download ‘hijackthis’ to check out the processes running on your PC:

Be careful before deleting anything immediately after running hijackthis. Read LoPhatPhuud here:

Remember to update Adware and Spybot for up-to-date fixes, and scan regularly. Spywareblaster prevents spyware being installed.

I think you should reinstall your browser too.

This isn't down to a hacker problem this is a problem with your p.c.
If your connection settings are changing then you need to find out what they are changing to if you can say what the changes are it's more likely someone can help.
Also say what antivirus & firewall you are using & if it's dial up / broadband / wireless etc

I disagree with the other answer - there is every reason for someone to HACK your computer.... just to p i s s you off! Why do graffiti vandals spraypaint things? There's no gain in it but still they do. Why do people create and spread viruses... same reason to annoy everyone and cause mayhem. Because the world is full of sick individuals.

Have you run AntiVirus and Anti Spyware thrpough your machine?

Make sure your phone in the other room is hung up, it's not your software that's a problem, it's you, dummy.
