(i am almost at the end of "catch 22" and need another book- only i have no idea what to buy next)

From the looks of the suggestions it would seem you have some great choices, any of the Pat Conroy would be good, I also highly recommend the Dickens classics and I do like F. Scott Fitzgerald, If you have not read Huckleberry Finn that also could be a great read for you,

2) Sahih Bukhari and 3) Sahih Muslim; the two books which invented and founded the science of reference. These are comprised of sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Not only the text but also the chain of references ie. who said and who reported from what is meticulously maintained. The character of the persons who narrated were also thouroughly checked and no saying was accepted from any dishonest person.
