Acts are very, very rarely signed by record companies on the strength of a demo. More often than not bands have already become known to the record company thorough word of mouth or self promotion. Having management helps in trying to get the attention of the A&R scouts in terms of getting them to go to your gigs, but acts are never signed to labels on the basis of an unsolicited demo. Get some management, work on your live performances and gain yourself a following and somebody somewhere will notice you. Good luck!!!

Don't know any good companies, but it is def worth sending stuff. My step-son and his band sent a demo to Sub-pop, asking for advice more than anything, and they got offered a deal (they didn't take the deal so they could concentrate on A levels)! If you don't send your demo, they def can't offer you a contract, and if you do send your demo you might just get lucky!

You need to get a reputable manager/agent before going to a music company as this will give you a better chance of being listened to by the music company as they receive loads which they cannot possibly listen to them all so give yourself a better chance by doing this if you are serious.

Do it yourself.....record companies will rip you off anyway or make you change what you're doing. With technology the way it is now, the playing field has been levelled. With hard work, you can be seen/heard by as many people as you want through gigs and the net.
Good luck!

truthfully! as quickly as you arise on that degree and notice each and every person finding up at you, taking area in and cheering what you love maximum in the international, is the main suitable feeling ever! that's an exceptionally annoying industry to get into so have some thing else constantly purely in case yet once you love music then truthfully decide for it! :D

Depends how good you are.
Music companies get hundreds of demos so you've got to grab their attention straight away.

truthfully, record companies every day get more demos than they could possibly listen to....most of them actually go unlistened...you need to make a few connection if possible, (easier said than done) that might insure them hearing it....tough business to break into...There's a lot of talented people out there that actually go undiscovered, because it's who you know....best of luck...
