I just got back from Barcelona, Spain. That place was really cool. They have the ocean to the south and mountains surrounding the entire city. Walking and eating along the "La Rambla" is really cool. All the squares and plazas are really outstanding. If you like cathedrals they are outstanding in that department. The Segrada Familia is an amazing marvel of architecture. You should also catch the fountain display at Montjuic. The nightlife is really cool and the restuarants are some of the best I've had. Really cool city. Watch the Spanish though. It will get you by, but the locals speak Catalan and look down on the Spanish language. Really nice and friendly people.

Technically the "coolest" is Antarctica - but only penguins live there - but i've been and it is pretty cool.

The nicest people i've met were a toss up between Argentina and Italy (but Argentina is cheeper to visit so it probably wins)

But from a patriotic view - AUSTRALIA!!!!

Japan

The U.S., by a long shot.

Certainly not Japan; I lived there ten years, and, particularly if you are female, it is NOT cool. The Japanese have many virtues, but they are rightly known for their raging xenophobia, and they are astonishingly rigid in their thinking. Also, the housing sucks (no central air or heat; no insulation; minuscule "kitchens" with no ovens and gas-fed hotplates instead of ranges). "Cool", my a$$.

In all the countries listed above, I'd say, well, lets see, nice people, cool, which means to accept new ideas, mmmmm, let me think, USA, by a long shot. USA RULES because of it's people.

Iceland... the people are cool (literally), the climate is cool, glaciers near volcanoes are cool. Plus they speak a dialect of old norvegian there which is kinda cool too.
