As you progress from one grade to the next it is supposed to prepare you for school and the next level. Don't worry, if you did OK in highschool you will be OK. Just be a bit more disciplined because in college they don't hold your hand. So if you want to blow off school and party you can. The challenge is to be reponsible for yourself because you are basically on your own! But really don't worry. It will be fine and in a year from now I am sure if we had a chat you would agree. I am 37 and have three university diplomas so I have spent many years in school and know that it does not get harder - just keep your eye on the ball dude!

College is harder. In Highschool, the teachers go at a slow pace, you have to be at school from 8-4 or whenever you were there with no option to go home, and the school tended to hold your hand and wipe your bum for you while you were in there.
In College, however, no-one gives a dam if you pass or fail or even if you turn up. You have to learn self-motivation to turn up for that 8am class, to study for the test, to work on your assignments outside of the class time, and learn all the material quickly. Of course, freshman subject professors know that it's a difficult transition between highschool and college and so they temper it a little by throwing in a fair amount of extra credit work, tell you what the content is on the test, and only test multiple choice exams. But as you get into the senior levels of College, you will really have to learn how to think and such and for some people, it is hard.
There is also the problem that College is full of options. Do you study for that exam tomorrow, or do you join that party down the hall? Do you take Economics or Art History? Should you major in Business or in Science? When should you start thinking about your career? What Greek Societies should I join? etc etc.
But College is so much more fun than Highschool. You are treated like adults rather than kids, the professors respect you more than teachers plus the whole atmosphere is exhilirating. Plus, you can go overseas to study abroad if you desired, which is a good option to take.

I didn't study in High School -- because I was unchallenged. My first year of college wasn't so good (academically) -- becuse I had to teach myself how to study. After that, I did very well, and found it a lot easier. Bottom line: Do the work and it becomes easy.
Socially, college was much easier than High School. I hated my HS years -- but cherish my college years.

College IS harder than high school in the same way that 8th grade is harder than 3rd grade. If you successfully completed high school....which it sounds like you have, you will be able to take college as it comes and will find that you are prepared to deal with harder questions.

College was harder for me because I went to a big school and had a lot of lecture hall classes. They were easy to skip or daydream during, and thus I failed all of them that I took. If you did well in high school, then college is generally easy. If you did poorly in high school, then college is generally harder.

Do you know how to read and how to think? You're going to be required to do a lot of both. Yes, it is very demanding, but also rewarding.
