I got an abortion b/c I got pregnant when I was raped. When I found out I was pregnant, and every day until I got my abortion, I hated myself. I wanted to claw my own insides out b/c I was so disgusted. This man had already used my as his personal human toilet, and now I was forced to have part of him inside me! No, you don't have to accept that! And yes you have every right to want an abortion! Why would anyone want to insist that you live with a child, a child that will carry the face of a man that will haunt you every day for the rest of your life. Do you want a constant reminder of the horrible rape every day?? I didn't. And I got an abortion. And I still stand by my decision. The day I finally got an abortion, I felt free. I could finally start dealing with what had happened and heal and move on.

Women who have been raped and immediately report it, will receive a day after pill. They will not become pregnant if they take the pill.
When rape is not immediately reported, not only is it hard to prove, but then a woman can become pregnant.
The legislators that lobby pro-choice all state that if the law passes that abortion is again illegal - then rape and serious birth defects will continue to be the exceptions of the rule.
In my opinion, abortion has always been a controversy. And always will. It'll never be illegal in the usa, no matter how much people push for it.
Abortion is a choice. There are many laws that protect the unborn now, but they are all for "wanted babies."
But, the choice comes way before the abortion. Whether or not to have sex. Whether or not to practice safe sex. It's amazing how many more people would rather pay around $400 for an abortion - when all they had to pay was $6 for a pack of condoms.

It's a sad situation all the way around. I don't think anyone could answer that question, except the woman in that situation. I wouldn't want to be responsible for making that choice. The child is innocent, but so was the mother. Some women could not mentally bare the stress of carrying the product of a rape around for 9 months... Other women have given birth to these poor chidren and felt nothing but love towards them. I believe it's a choice that should be made by the mother after some serious soul searching. Deciding how to handle an unplanned pregnancy is never easy... Sigh.

A female should be able to have an abortion whether rape, incest or just an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy.
Whether other's see it religiously, immorally or inhumanly wrong.
It still is a choice that only she can make for her self based on her own feelings.
Abortion isn't an easy way out. Abortion is fixing the issue just like adoption or keeping the baby is. Normally takes place in the first trimester where all getting rid of is a mass of cells. When it comes to 16 weeks and beyond is when I disagree when abortion takes place. 16 weeks and less is plenty enough time to decide whether to abort or go through rest of pregnancy.

This is what's so messed up about the uncompromising pro-life argument. They will say that the child is innocent, and did not do anything wrong, so it deserves a chance to live. Nevermind about the life of the woman who was raped, the hopes and dreams for her life don't matter.
Last I checked, nobody was forcing anyone to have abortions. Every woman that had an abortion made an informed decision and decided that this was what was best. Who are we to try and take that decision away from them? And, who are we to say that they won't return to using coathangers to abort their own babies if it becomes illegal?

Depends on where you are. Some states allow it, some don't. Some countries allow it, some don't. Look it up in your family code. Most would advise you to give up the baby for adoption and not abortion but personally, I think a girl who was raped and got pregnant from that rape should be able to get an abortion because why should that girl sacrifice her entire future for a pregnancy she was forced into?

Depends on who you ask...go to South Dakota and they say a girl should not get an abortion even in the case of rape and incest unless it is a danger to her health.
What stricter abortion laws mean is that wealthy folks will STILL be able to find a doctor to perform an abortion in a safe environment under the name D and C (give some phony reason) and poor folk will once again be relegated to a "back alley" for dangerous procedures.
People, in my opinion, don't realize that stricter abortion laws will not save many "babies" lives. It is, in my opinion, just ANOTHER way to control the "masses."

Even though it is pretty mean to the innocent child,1) it's not born yet 2) she didn't want to get raped, so 3) it's her choice. Plus, it depends on weather or not the girl is ready to be a mom or go through labor pains which do NOT sound good at all.

no matter how we choose to look at it, if a girl got raped she shouldn't be allowed to have that child.
1) She's already deteriorated psychologically and is in no shape to bring an innocent child to the world to suffer hurt for no fault of theirs.
2) The child's paternity is unknown, who shares the responsibilty of raising that child.
3) In my part of the world if any of the child's parents has certain character, 90% of the time chances are that this child inherits this character, so why have a baby who'll probably be a rapist too.

Neither does a baby DECIDE to be conceived in rape. It is not the baby's fault that her father is a criminal. Should we kill toddlers whose daddies were rapists? Are they somehow less worthy of life? Every unborn child is innocent. No unborn child deserves to die like this:

Furthermore, abortion only increases the trauma and grief of the woman who has been raped. She becomes the aggressor, hurting another innocent victim the way she was hurt, and this will haunt her long after she has healed from the rape. For more on this issue, see:
