In the Mid 1970's a strange Children's TV programme first aired called Michael Bentine's Potty Time.
Michael Bentine was one of the members of the 'Goons', which also included Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Harry Secombe. The Goons were a group of comedians that had their own Radio and TV shows.
After this success he tried his hand at a Children's Show and came up with Potty Time. It was a strange show made up of very short people, called Potties. You never saw their feet and most of the male potties had big bushy beards that covered most of their faces. In between the mayhem of the story being told was Michael who would talk to the potties and find out more details of the story.
Michael did all of the voices of the Potties and one of the most loved Potties was the Invisible Potty. The only way to see this potty was to look at the floor and see his footprints on the ground.

Oh yesssssssss! We all sat around with tears streaming from our faces, at the battles with different voices, explosions etc/.
And Colonel Bloodnock, was it, can see the face now. Had an uncle who looked just like him!
And Michael Bentine, with his goofy teeth, glasses on the move all the time, and the hair going in all directions! Aaaaaah they don't make em like that no more! Truly a blast from the past!

Old Charlie made sure I never forgot Potty Time. I used to work with a guy who talked just like the pottymen. It was hilarious. He had a high pitched voice and spoke in short bursts at least twice as fast as anyone you've ever heard, plus he swore almost every second word and had a really bad stutter. You had to know him for at least a month before you could understand anything he said.
'm sure the pottymen were based on Old Charlie and Potty referred to his language.

Oh yes I do! it was weird, wonderful and ideal for young kids to escape. But does anyone remember Vision On? The thing that sped across the studio scared the wotsit out of my brother! Tony Hart, and Sylvester McCoy were in it. Strange that Tony Hart was the president of PRISM - People's Right To Smoke Marijuana!
