hey; you will have alot of attenntion their and everyone will be looking at you,at least you can wear t-shirt and some cotton pants or a panta-core, and for your health:the weather in luxor and aswan is very very hot and the temprature is above 45 degrees (cilisius) and you'll be toasted if you didn't have a sun block creams and some long sleeves shirts, and you should wear a hat all the time if you are out in direct sun,and you should realize and respect the country's traditions and rules, you may wear some skirts or t-shirts without sleeves but you should not wear indecent clothes and langery in public, but you can take off the towel from your body when you're neer the swimming pool and you're going to get in there(of course when you're wearing your swim suit and ready to swim). i wish you a wonderful trip but don't forget to respect the locals.
Good Luck

Expect a lot of attention if you don't! But they're used to tourists there so you won't be offending anyone in shorts and T-shirts.

It is, however, steaming hot at this time of year - so you may wish to cover up anyway just to stop yourself burning!

I think you will be wise to cover up.
If you go dressed as you want to you will be considered a prostitute by many Egyptian men and you will be treated accordingly.
If you are going with a male partner he may become involved in fights with Egyptian men as he tries to defend you. I have seen this happen.
The only place you may be safe like this is in the Red Sea resorts.

hi,
wear what ever u like , be sure that luxor is a touristic city so its normal there unless u have a noticeable body in that case u should use me as a body guard :-)

Egypt is secular and they are used to tourists, particularly Americans. Be respectable in the way you dress! The food is terrible and so is the beer so bring things for you stomach.

Just make sure your bum isn't hanging out of your shorts and your chest isn't hanging out of your top. Long shorts and t shirts/ high necked vests are fine for around the town, in the Hotel wear want to want/

YOU CAN WEAR A T SHIRT ANS SHORTS NOT A PROBLEM , IT IS SENSIBLE TO TAKE A WRAP SO YOU CAN ENTER PLACES WHERE SHOULDERS AND KNEES HAVE TO BE COVERED AND ALSO HELPS WHEN THE SUN IS VERY HOT . EXPECT UP TO 50 DEGREES AT THE VALLEY OF THE KINGS, TAKE HAT AND A THERMOS TO KEEP WATER COLD AS TEPID WATER IN YOUR BAG IS HORRIBLE

You should try to dress sensibly and respectfully when you are in a Muslim country. Arab men will think it an open invitation to touch you if you dress "provocatively" in their eyes. You will get an opportunity to dress more casually in more private locations - hotels and private beaches etc.It really depends how short your shorts are!
