The Hells Angels were originally founded by a group of men that flew in the American fighter Squadron kown as "The Hells Angels",,,,,,after the war they couldn't find anything to equal the adrenallin rush they got from flying. Many of the guys had access to the bikes(Harleys) that were used in the war at almost no cost.. Many bikes were made and then pretty much just discarded. The guys found the rumble and roar of the Harleys helped them to reacquire the rush,,,,,,,,,,now ya know

outlaw bikers ? Old Outlaws I knew were mostly Harley's but about 1/4-1/3 rode other brands. At the time their rules were road worthy bike preferred 500cc or over. A couple were riding R69 BMW's like mine, many others were riding the English bikes like Triumph, BSA, and Enfields, Nortons. When Honda came out with 750-4 a couple got them also-wasn't exactly a popular choice with many others in clubs but local 'Harley's only' rules didn't get to national level at that time. Some info on German Hells Angels clubs seem to indicate only about 1/2 the bikes are the seemingly image preferred Harley's.

Because Harleys are all about a badass image (and not much else). So, if you want everyone to think you are an "outlaw" you ride a Harley. If you want a good motorcycle that actually has some performance, comfort, and quality engineering, you don't.

You don't know any Angels then do you?
There are many "Angels" on Honda's, Ducati Monsters, Moto Guzzi's, Buels, Triumphs... Not just Harleys...
You should get out more..

Because Hell's Angels are of purely American origins and they honor the only American motorcycle! You may find some Hell's Angels also ride old Indians too, which was the other great American bike, but there aren't many of those original ones left anymore.

HA members do not only ride Harleys, but they are prevelant due to how easy they are to acquire and how inexpensive they can be. I lived the biker life working for Indian Motorcyle working all the rally's and such, and partied with plenty of guys from the Red & White. They ride Harleys, they ride Indians, they ride Big Dogs they ride customs....you just won't see one caught dead on a rice burner :-)~

Get the book "Hells Angel" by Ralph "Sonny" Barger. He started the Hell's Angels, and explains all. Ironically, he says he dislikes Harley's cuz mechanically they are shite. He much prefers Jap bikes cuz they're reliable.
