try to use Seachem's PAraguard. It is a good cure for bacterial, fungus, parasites and viral infections. Good luck for your goldfish!

Urban, shut up. You've proven your ignorance several times already. If you don't know what you're talking about (and you don't), then at least look up a proper answer. Goldfish and tropical fish can not and should not be housed together. Aside from the obvious reason being that they have different temperature requirements, their pH, gH, and kH, for the most part, are different as well. Also, she has given you no indication that she has a fungus in her tank. How do you know it's not a bacterial or viral problem, if it's a matter of nasty stuff growing in the water at all?!
Listen to Zoer. She has goldfish (judging by her questions and the wonderful answers she gives), and she knows what she's talking about. And I firmly believe that every aquarist should keep a bottle of StressCoat on hand, as it helps for so much.

The reason the catfish went after the goldfish is because the goldfish was sick. They will do this to a fish that has a fungus.
And dont worry, you can keep goldfish and tropicals in the same tank, jus make sure you monitorthe water conditions.
Get a fungus medicine for the fish and once they are healed, they can be put back in with the catfish.
Also, check the watr conditions to see if the infection was caused by bad water conditions (check ph and ammonia levels).

Goldfish and sucker fish don't mix for several reasons. Goldfish are cold water fish and suckers are tropical requiring higher temp waters. They may also require different PH levels.
The biggest reason they don't mix? Suckers (plecos, etc.) eat the slime coating off goldies which is really bad. The slime coating keeps your goldies healthy and helps fight infections. Without it, they are more susceptible to the simplest things.
Go to Petco (or other pet store) and get a bottle of Stress Coat. This will help build their sliminess back. Also, get a separate tank for those guys.
The link is about the importance of a slime coat. The second link is for the product.

first of all, youre not supposed to mix tropical fish with goldfish..this is probably why this happened...when i got my fish, i was told to either get tropical fish or goldfish..not to mix bc they do not go well together....i would suggest you get another bowl/aquarium for your goldfish and your tropicals in your cuurent one..
